Chrono Odyssey’s beta is underway with no NDA, lots of bugs, and the promise of more invites and capacity

Eager fans hoping for a crack at the Chrono Odyssey beta this weekend are finally getting their wish as the event is finally underway. Well, some of them are.

“The Chrono Odyssey Closed Beta has officially begun, and the servers are now open,” Kakao announced this morning. “Players who have received access can now begin their journey through Setera! If you haven’t received an email yet, don’t worry. Access to the test is continuing to be granted throughout the Closed Beta period.”

Indeed, it sounds as if lots of gamers haven’t gotten invites yet, including some of us, so patience is the order of the day. (There’s no NDA, so we were hoping to stream. Alas.)

Kakao reminds fans that there are three regions with six servers apiece to choose from; it also warns testers that they should expect to run into bugs.

“In this Closed Beta, bugs and unexpected issues are not only possible, they are expected. The purpose of this phase is to stress test our servers, gameplay systems, and content with a large number of players, and identify any issues that may arise across different scenarios. Many parts of the game are still being actively developed, adjusted, or polished. You may encounter performance issues such as FPS drops, network instability, or areas that require further optimization too.”
